The ever-popular Barney and Echo Roadshow travelled to Crewe Alexandra FC on Thursday 29th September to deliver the important message of internet safety.
The engaging day-long event played host to over 100 children from 28 local schools, with exciting presentations from four speakers and multiple interactive exhibitions ensuring the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Children were given the opportunity to take part in structured group activities that encouraged them to discuss issues surrounding e-safety. Presentations from the Cheshire Constabulary, ChatFOSS, One Day, and Link2ICT helped to educate and entertain the children. Each school that attended the Roadshow was provided with goody-bags and free classroom materials.
Melanie Fenn, event coordinator, commented:
“We are delighted to have welcomed so many bright and eager children to the Barney and Echo Roadshow. I would like to say a big thank you to all of our speakers and exhibitors, and to the staff at Crewe Alexandra
for helping to make this a truly memorable day. The event was a huge success among pupils
and teachers, and we hope to see them all again soon in future Roadshows!”
Crewe Alexandra Football Club’s mascot, Gresty the Lion, was on hand to greet the children. As well as providing a signed first team football for the raffle, the football club also supplied match-day ticket vouchers! Schools were treated to free posters, access to a mobile interactive tech vehicle provided by Osbourne Technologies, and the chance to get to grips with a virtual reality headset provided by O2 (... and much more – including getting to grips with a friendly dancing robot!).
